Hello Collaboration Families,
January is in full swing, and we are back to learning! Students have done a great job transitioning back to school. However, some students are struggling with remembering supplies like pencils and completing homework/classwork. Please check in with your child to see how they are doing. In ELA, we’ve started our new unit titled Tackling Complexity in Informational Reading. We’ve started with identifying the main idea, details, text structure, and text features. In Social Studies, we’ll continue a group project that will focus on a slideshow simulation on the region of colonies the group decides to “move to.” Ask your child where they’re moving! In Math, we are starting our fractions unit. Now is a great time to bake at home with your child. This is awesome practice for common denominators and physically seeing how fractions are made of other fractions. In Science, we are talking about groundwater and how people find water when they are not near a large source of water like we are. This has generated amazingly scientific discussions. Things to be aware of: Dec 14th Pokemon Club 3:15 Jan 16th Martin Luther King Jr. Day - No School Jan 17th Group Picture Day Jan 18th 5th Grade Battle of the Books Qualifier Homework Board: We have a weekly homework board that has all of your child's assignments for our house classes. We've linked it here for your reference. This is also available here on the website in the Homework tab. Water Bottles: Please make sure your child has a refillable water bottle at school to stay hydrated. Any recyclable drink container is also welcome for students to use (ex. empty gatorade bottle) If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
