Hello Collaboration Families,
It’s just about December! Alongside our academic activities, we’ll also be doing some fun holiday activities. In ELA, we’re starting our second personal narrative. I will be grading the narrative they completed yesterday by sometime next week. In Social Studies, we’ll finish the Southern Colonies. We’ll also begin a group project that will focus on a slideshow simulation on the region of colonies the group decides to “move to.” In Math, we are working hard on learning how to calculate and apply our skills with volume of rectangular prisms. Next week we will have an assessment and begin our volume project. Students will need boxes to create their project. We're looking for boxes that are around the size of a cereal box or smaller. Any rectangular prism shaped box will do--small ones like cream cheese shaped boxes or larger ones like small Amazon boxes are great! Please send those in if you have them. Please no large boxes. In Science, tomorrow we will begin our performance task for unit 1. ***For Science we are collecting empty plastic bottles for an experiment. If you have any at home that you can send in, that would be amazing! Thanks! Things to be aware of: Dec 13th Band Concert Dress Rehearsals and Concert Dec 16th 4:30 LV School Dance House Apparel: We will finish up these items for the second round starting on Friday. Homework Board: We have a weekly homework board that has all of your child's assignments for our house classes. We've linked it here for your reference. This is also available here on the website in the Homework tab. Water Bottles: Our building is very warm and there are filling stations at the water fountains. Please make sure your child has a refillable water bottle at school to stay hydrated. Any recyclable drink container is also welcome for students to use (ex. empty gatorade bottle) Pencils: Please make sure your child has pencils. We are loaning out a lot of pencils each day and our supply is running a little low. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Mrs. Cantu and Mrs. Potts Hello Collaboration Families,
We can hardly believe that next week is Thanksgiving! The students as a whole are doing so well, and our class receives compliments on their behavior constantly! We are so proud of them. We do not have school next Wednesday! This means our read-a-thon will become a type-a-thon! Please note that students can wear their jammies and bring their special snacks on Tuesday the 22nd, instead of Wednesday the 23rd. In ELA, we’re editing and rewriting parts of our first narrative. We’ll start finishing these next week. In Social Studies, we’ll continue Colonization. We’ll begin our study on the Southern Colonies. In Math, we are studying how to compute the volume of rectangular prisms next week. In Science, we are discovering the processes involved in keeping ecosystems balanced and diving deeply into food webs.. ***For Science we are collecting empty plastic bottles for an experiment.
