Hello Collaboration Families, Hello families! We’ve really enjoyed our conferences so far and are looking forward to our Thursday conferences! Tomorrow is the last day to order house apparel. Tomorrow is also the last day of the book fair. We’ll send students who brought money down during ELA. Don’t forget to dress up on Monday if you’d like to. In ELA, we’re starting Narrative Writing. Students will be writing stories about themselves. This coming week we’ll begin making story idea lists as well as write our first few narratives. In Social Studies, we’ll continue Colonization. We’ll finish our simulation and study on the New England Colonies. In Math, we are finishing our module on division skills using a variety of methods of division. Students took an assessment on these concepts today. Look for that in your child’s orange folder next week. In Science, we did an exciting lab about worms! Ask your child about how their worm behaved. Please refer to the information below for guidelines. October 31st Costume Day- This is a voluntary activity and students do NOT have to participate by wearing a costume. If you do participate, please know that the costume must be appropriate for school. Students should plan on wearing their costume to school for the day as you will not be allowed to change or do makeup at school. In ELA, we will begin preparing for the next unit, which is Narrative Writing. In Social Studies, we will begin our new unit on Colonization. In Math, we are working on division skills using a variety of methods of division. This has been a really intense unit and the students have been growing so much! We will be assessing their knowledge next week. Note: You should have received your child’s first assessment for math last Friday. If you did not, please ask your child to show you their orange take home folder. In Science, we are getting ready to start an activity on decomposers and will be studying worms. This will be a fun lab that will allow students to see how decomposers help to keep Ecosystems balanced. These can be used for absences, or if your child is confused about work expectations once they’ve returned home. In Social Studies, we'll continue our group research projects of European Explorers. In Math, we are working on division skills using the area and partial quotients methods of division. Students are really stretching their minds and ability to collaborate with peers in this unit. Mrs. Potts is very proud of their efforts. In Science, we are diving into Ecosystems and how they work. This week we are looking at what plants need to survive and how decomposers work.
