Hello Collaboration Families,
We are having such a great time getting to know your children and watching them grow. These students have such amazing and unique qualities that allow for great discussions and activities. STAR testing has been a huge success and most students have completed both sections. These tests are much shorter than MAP testing and give us great insight into how your child learns, but they are just one of the ways we assess student knowledge. We will send home information about your child’s test results after we’ve had a chance to review the results and go over it with your child. Remember these results are just a snapshot of what your child knows on this particular day and time, not their overall ability or a reflection of their intelligence. Growth is what we’re looking for, not just academic achievement. In ELA, we've started unit 1, Interpretation Book Clubs. Students will be grouped with others who have chosen the same book by the end of next week. In Social Studies, we'll continue our short unit called Map Skills. Students are in groups creating their own cities. In Math, we are continuing to build our math mindset through activities and discussion. We will also begin our first Math Module about place value patterns. In Science, we are diving into Ecosystems and how they work. Things to be aware of: Sept. 15 STAR make-up tests Sept. 15 Vision Screening Sept. 30 No school for students Homework Board: We have a weekly homework board that has all of your child's assignments for our house classes. We've linked it here for your reference. This is also available here on the website in the Homework tab. Water Bottles: Our building is very warm and there are filling stations at the water fountains. Please make sure your child has a refillable water bottle at school to stay hydrated. Any recyclable drink container is also welcome for students to use (ex. empty gatorade bottle) If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
